It is planned that each panelist will make 15 minutes presentation (for a total of one hour) followed by 30 minutes questions and answers and discussion. Also the panel info is being featured online at the conference website.

 

 

Erik Dahlquist

Biography: Erik Dahlquist has a back-ground from ASEA/ABB where he was working with product and process development 1975-2002 as project manager for development of new energy and environmental processes like cross flow membrane filtration, gasification and combustion processes. Member of the board of directors at ABB Corporate Research 1992-1995, global business manager for advanced control, optimization and simulation 1996-2002 at ABB Industrial solutions for Pulp and paper applications. Adj prof at KTH 1997-2000 and full prof at Malardalen univ in Energy engineering since 2000 (part time to 2002). Dean for the faculty of science and technology 2001-2007. Research director for some 30 researchers and 60 PhD students in the area Process and Resource Optimization, where the focus is on optimization of existing and future industry and power plant processes as well as energy efficiency improvement in buildings. 20 patents, some 150 scientific publications.

Biography: Jake DeBruyn is the New Technology Integration Engineer for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Jake is based in the Guelph office and covers Halton and Peel Regions for environmental and farm nuisance issues under the Farming and Food Production Protection Act. Jake’s work over the last few years at the Ministry has spanned from Nutrient Management to odour to washwater, and most recently to energy opportunities. Jake is currently active in encouraging the deployment of an agri-food biogas systems, and in increasing the knowledge around biomass and solar options in the province.

Biography: Bob Gallant is the President and CEO of GreenField Ethanol, Canada’s leading biofuels company.

 

Over the past 10 years, under Bob’s leadership, GreenField has grown to be Canada’s largest ethanol producer with over 600 million litres per year of grain based ethanol and employing over 400 people in Canada and the US.

 

A diversified business – GreenField produces fuel grade ethanol to meet North America’s need for cleaner renewable transportation fuel and a wide range of industrial and beverage alcohol.

 

GreenField is leading the clean technology race to produce ethanol from agricultural waste. GreenField’s pilot facility in Chatham, Ontario produces ethanol from corn cobs and the company will build a commercial demonstration plant this year.

 

Bob is a professional engineer and has extensive experience in all areas of senior management in large-scale chemical businesses.

 

At the age of 40, Bob was appointed President of Hercules Canada and led this subsidiary to the highest net operating profit margin in the International Group. He went on to lead Hercules Americas, with regional responsibility for Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, based at Hercules world headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.

 

A graduate of McGill University, Bob also completed the Executive Management programs at the University of Western Ontario and the Darden School of Business. Fluent in English and French, Bob has been an active member of the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association, Canadian-American Business Council, the Canadian Chemical Producers Association, the National Investor Relations Institute, the Chemical Manufacturers Association and l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. .
